Curriculum:

Julie Billiart School is certified by the State of Ohio and follows the Cleveland Catholic Diocese course of studies. The following subjects are included in its core curriculum:

Religion
Mathematics – the Saxon Math series
Reading – individualized for students using the Wilson method
Speech and Language Therapy – including social skills
Science –using "Skit Kits" in addition to specialized classes
Social Studies – and a "Geography Club" for G. 5-8
Computer proficiency – and use of ActivBoards for interactive learning
Music – includes theory, vocal group singing, and appreciation
Art Therapy sessions – individual, small groups, and classes
Physical education – in class groups including intramural team sports

Julie Billiart School is in compliance with state requirements meeting these school improvement goals:

Goal 1 - To develop and implement flexibility which integrates the Catholic philosophy of the school.

Goal 2 - To provide a curriculum geared to the individual needs of each student.

When students graduate from JBS, most will have completed the elementary course of study approved by the State of Ohio and the Cleveland Catholic Diocese.

The school's main focus in the academic areas is to remediate whenever possible and compensate when necessary. All levels stress a "hands on"approach to study skills and integrating these skills into the total curriculum and daily living experience. Students may be taught in large or small groups, even individually. The faculty uses a variety of multi-media techniques and teaching strategies to help make sure that each student is able to maximize his or her potential by learning through the strongest

modality.
