The Junior High Social on Jan. 29 appeared to be a success!  Attendance was good, and everyone seemed to be having a good time.  The last social of the year will be on Feb. 26.

Fr. Michael Gurnick will be the celebrant for the 2/19 Liturgy, which will be planned by the 7th grade.  Fr. Gurnick will speak with Jr High immediately after Mass (for approximately 45-60 minutes) on Vocations.

Just to give you a "heads up," on Thursday, March 11, the Jr High will take a field trip to Severance Hall to hear and see the Cleveland Orchestra.  More details will follow as soon as I work out the transportation piece.

Mrs. MacIntyre

In religion this year, our curriculum covers Jesus and the New Testament.  We will talk about our friendship with Jesus, learn about our individual uniqueness and capacity to grow, learn and love, and get a better idea about Jesus's life and the time in which he lived.  We will explore the Beatitudes, the Sacraments, the lives of the apostles, learn about the Gospels (and their authorship), and address many aspects of Catholic Social Justice teachings, both within the textbook chapters and with supplemental activities.

In January and February, we will learn more about Jesus, his mission and the apostles.

In science, you probably have a fairly good idea of the 7th level content.  If that's not the case, ask your child to show you the handout entitled "Do You Know As Much As A Seventh Grader?" to view some of the topics we'll cover this year.  The questions will be answered as we progress through the content.

We continue to review the water cycle steps and their tie-in to our current topic-clouds.  I'm also slightly stepping off the curriculum path to incorporate a few lessons on snowflakes (not so much from a scientific standpoint as from a mathematical and artistic view), which includes some background information on their structural components-thanks to "Snowflake Bentley."  We'll take it from there as we move along the continuum.
